Diving into a Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Turdy Character in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have discovered plenty of engaging creations from small studios. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a hero that is truly a turd trying to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."

Player controls is simple: press a one button to leap. In 150 challenges, encounter mini-bosses and access a shop to buy customizations for your poop character.

Execute your jumps carefully, as a wrong move means starting over. Jump on floating orbs to hurl yourself higher, navigate crumbling ledges, and activate switches to unlock hidden paths. Gather currency and use them on tougher game content where the action intensifies.

In terms of design, the experience features neon environments and catchy music score. Its minimalist art with shifting abstract forms could recall fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name other games where you control a dung character, interactive entertainment often incorporated scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can create grenades from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as soil enrichment. And of course, such content is present extensively in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, including taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is accessible at present on Steam, with the complete version planned to debut on Steam on November 19.
